God’s Love vs. Human Love

Friends, family members, and spouses very often say to each other, “I love you unconditionally”-but do they really mean that? For example, some of our parents may say they love us “unconditionally”-meaning that despite the things we do and no matter what happens to us, they still love us. But if we get into trouble, they get very angry with us, which makes us believe that our parents only love us to a certain extent-no further than that. But they are only humans, human love is not unconditional. God’s love is unconditional, there is no, “I love you only if…” in the perspective of God, for he loves the sinner but hates the sin. No matter how good or bad we are, God loves us without question, without compromise. So let’s not try not to take things too personally if people get too angry with us because human love is temporary, but God’s love is permanent.
